How to Withdraw

Introduction​

This guide explains how to easily and securely withdraw assets from Base to Ethereum using SkyBridge.

At this time, SkyBridge supports transfers between Ethereum and Base. Support for additional chains is coming in future releases.

Pre-requisites​

Before we start, you will need to have:

  • A compatible wallet with tokens or NFTs on Base ready to be withdrawn
  • A basic understanding of how blockchain technology works

How to Withdraw: Step-by-Step Process​

1. Connect Your Wallet​

To begin the withdrawal process, connect your cryptocurrency wallet to the SkyBridge interface.

  1. Go to the SkyBridge application.
  2. Click the "Connect" button at the top of the page.
  3. Select your wallet provider and follow the prompts to establish the connection.

2. Select Your Asset and Amount​

For ETH and ERC-20 Tokens​

  1. Use the dropdown menu on the main page to select the token you wish to withdraw.
  2. Enter the amount you want to withdraw.
  3. The "From" network (Base) and "To" network (Ethereum) will be pre-selected by default.

For NFTs (ERC-721)​

  1. Navigate to the NFT tab.
  2. Select your NFT from the dropdown menu.
  3. The "From" network (Base) and "To" network (Ethereum) will be pre-selected by default.

3. Choose Withdrawal Method​

SkyBridge supports two withdrawal types:

  1. Standard Withdrawal: Available for all tokens. Involves a waiting period.
  2. Supersonic Withdrawal: Available for select tokens (always supported for Aviator token). Allows for faster withdrawals. Supersonic is enabled by default if available.

The interface should display the following:

  • The sending network, and the destination network;
  • The estimated amount you will receive on the destination network;
  • The intended destination address; and
  • Any associated fees for the transfer.

4. Initiate the Withdrawal​

  1. Review the fees and estimated transaction time.
  2. Click the "Withdraw" button.
  3. Confirm the transaction in your wallet.

5. Monitor and Complete the Withdrawal​

For Supersonic Withdrawals​

  1. Wait for a short period (typically around 20-30 minutes).
  2. Navigate to the Activity page.
  3. Find your withdrawal and click "Claim".
  4. Confirm the transaction in your wallet.

For Standard Withdrawals​

  1. Wait for about an hour for the initial processing.
  2. Navigate to the Activity page.
  3. Click "Prove" when available.
  4. Wait for the 7-day challenge period enforced by Optimism and Base.
  5. After 7 days, return to the Activity page.
  6. Click "Claim Withdrawal" to finalize and receive your tokens.

SkyBridge requires users to approve most tokens before they can be bridged. This approval only has to be done once per token and is required by the Ethereum network.

For NFT Withdrawals​

NFT withdrawals are fast and do not require a second transaction.

Troubleshooting​

If you encounter issues during the withdrawal process:

  • Ensure you have sufficient ETH for gas fees on Base.
  • For pending Supersonic withdrawals, check the Activity page for tokens to claim.
  • If a withdrawal appears stuck, contact the support team on Discord.

Remember that standard withdrawals have a 7-day waiting period. This is not an error, but a security feature of the Optimism network.

Additional Information​

  • The Activity page now shows all transactions, including deposits and withdrawals, without separate tabs.
  • If you're withdrawing a token that hasn't been deployed on Ethereum, you may need to deploy it first. You can do this through the Deploy tab or directly from the token selection process.
